Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin has announced the dismissal of two defensive starters after they were arrested for aggravated robbery on Tuesday.

Linebacker Darian Claiborne and defensive tackle Isaiah Golden both started as true freshmen last year and were expected to retain their roles for the 2014 season, reports ESPN’s Sam Khan Jr.

According to the police report, Claiborne and Golden agreed to sell the three victims marijuana, but when they arrived the Aggies players proceeded to rob the men at gunpoint.

“When the suspects arrived at the apartment to complete the transaction, one of the suspects produced a handgun, pointed it at one of the victims while the other suspect took the money that was present to purchase the marijuana. While this was occurring, one of the victims stood up from the couch and was struck in the face by the suspect with the handgun.”

Both players have previous arrests, and Sumlin said the team could no longer tolerate their actions.

“These two individuals have failed to meet the high expectations and standards that we have for our football players and as representatives of this university. These two players have exhibited a pattern of behavior that we will not tolerate at Texas A&M.”

Golden withdrew from school in March after being suspended from spring practices, but Sumlin originally said the tackle was expected to return to the team for summer workouts.
